Highguard - Rivermark - Geothermal Interior

Rivermark was part of our first official map created for the game and the Geothermal Point of Interest (POI) building was an exciting task to work on. My coworker Paul Tran handled a big portion of this POI and did a very early blockout of the interior initially. He went on to focus on the exterior, while I took on creating the art for the interior. We were trying to get a better handle on the artstyle in these beginning stages and worked closely with our Environment Concept Art Lead Gabriel Yeganyan and Art Director Robert Taube who did the lighting. Robert also worked a lot with me on figuring out the middle Shield Breaker area, and in the end the tech we started to build out for this scene was among my favorite parts of the game.
I collaborated a lot with Level Designer Dave Osei to replace all the blockout geo with proper cover. My Art Lead Jose Zavala did the destruction wall pieces and helped give feedback, and Derek Bentley provided the swirly rock-wisp shapes that were affected by sound in the red water area.

I was responsible for modeling, some texturing (creating triangle panels and grating materials), making new props, world building, bug fixing, and repurposing some existing assets to save time. This task was a team effort making use of our Highguard asset library which was shared and contributed to by the other environment artists.

The Rivermark map released in Season 1, and Highguard shipped in January 2026 for the XBox Series S/X, PS5, and PC/Steam.
