Vesper City was one of the maps released in Season 1, and as the main artist in charge of creating the big Treasury (Point of Interest) building I worked closely with our level designer Dave Osei to replace all the blockout geo with proper cover. I also consulted with my coworkers Jobye-Kyle Karmaker for the surrounding terrain that overlapped the building, and Derek Bentley for learning how to best use his rock architecture kits to get the space to feel solid and cohesive with our styles across the map. I was responsible for world building, creating new props (like the the bank box sets, gold bar stands and cloth, gold tileable trim sheet used throughout the area), bug fixing, and modeling out a bunch of the scene including repurposing some existing assets to save time.
I collaborated a lot with Concept Artist Gabriel Brandt and Environment Concept Art Lead Gabriel Yeganyan throughout the process to help bring their initial visions into 3D. Our Character Art Lead Patrick Yeung provided a high-res Z-Brush model of the big statue and I took it to completion tweaking the model, unwrapping, texturing, optimizing, and making its variants. My Art Lead Jose Zavala created the wood destruction walls, and helped figure out proper material blending procedures for interior spaces. Our Art Director Robert Taube did the lighting. This task was a team effort making use of our Highguard asset library which was shared and contributed to by the other environment artists.
