Apex Legends - World's Edge (Skyhook Elevator)

In Season 3 we released a new Multiplayer map called 'World's Edge.' I got to build this giant landmark known as the Skyhook elevator which was a cool task. I modeled everything for the structure's interior and exterior in Maya, then kitbashed it with a couple of new cloth and metal textures I created. Most of the other textures and small props I added for world building were existing assets shared across the Titanfall/Apex Art team and done by other artists. My coworker Paul Tran made the giant cable texture at the center of the interior which I helped tweak for the final look. Jose Zavala created the door assets and did the exterior terrain surrounding the building in these shots.

Additional feedback came from Env Art Director Robert Taube, Env Art Leads Jose Zavala, and Lewis Walden, the Apex Env Art Team, and Level Designer Rodney Reece.

Concept by Danny Gardner.

Lighting by Austin Arnett.

Skydome by Marcos Shih.

One of the biggest challenges was getting this building to read from the far Dropship view. We wanted it to stand out with a unique silhouette.
